During the week, while Erin is at work, I don't really like to drive all the way to the east side to ride. Instead, I've been experimenting with the trail riding in Seattle. Last week, I rode on the Burke Gilman trail for what felt like a long long time but I think was only about 25 miles. The trail is pretty nice, but it does become pretty busy in some sections, so this week I tried to find ways to bypass the busy parts.
There are signs along the trail that say "fast riders should take Burke Gilman bypass route." I tried to follow this route last time, but I quickly lost the signs. Because I don't know my way around Seattle at all, I figured it was better to stick to the trail. The trail isn't that busy during the day when I go riding, but if I start riding later after work, I need alternate routes.
Today I found some ways around the trail where the roads were still fairly low traffic with not too many stops. I still have a few kinks to work out, but I'm getting there. I ended up riding 36 miles today.
Otherwise, the job search continues. Still no callbacks. We move into our new apartment on Sunday, which I'm really excited about. All of my stuff is packed in bags and boxes either in my car or in Erin's living room. It will be nice to unpack.
We had a really fun long weekend. On Saturday, we hiked up Mt Si, which is 8 miles round trip (4 miles up, 4 miles down). It only took us about 3 hours, but I was so sore the next day. Sunday we rode around Lake Sammamish, which was really nice, and yesterday we went downtown for a bit and then walked around Queen Anne. The weather has been great!
